P. L. Travers was a writer, feminist and theosophist who studied with both C. G. Jung and Gurdjieff. Sue will discuss Travers’ friendship with the Irish poet A. E., their mutual interest in Theosophy and faery magic and how these came to influence her conception of Mary Poppins, the eponymous character in the series of children’s books, later made into a film by Walt Disney.
